Quiltmaking Equipment

Sewing machines aren't a quiltmaking necessity, but they do make quilt assembly much easier. You'll find sewing machines in every price range and with features that range from the basics to performing complicated tasks at the push of a button. The tips here help you choose the best sewing machine for your needs.

Baby Lock
There are new Baby Lock owners in my get-used-to-your-new -machine class, so I've heard the instructor talk about some of their features. They sound wonderful. Top top it off, the instructor says that Baby Locks rarely come back for repairs.
Bernina
My own personal choice. I recently bought a Bernina with the stitch regulator for machine quilting--it sure makes me look better than I actually am. But I have an older, non-computerized Bernina that I love and will never part with.
Husqvarna Viking
Viking is another sewing machine brand that many quilters love.
Janome
Another quality machine that's the choice of many quilters.
Pfaff
Lots of quilters love their Pfaffs. I haven't used one, but they look like wonderful sewing machines with plenty of options to get your creative juices flowing.
Singer Sewing Machines
Singer has been around a long time and offers affordable machines for quilters and sewers.
